Dilli asks:
I can’t transfer my movies to “LG’s XF1 external multimedia HDD”!
Is there a way (software) that can help me transfer my movies to this external HD? I have a MAC.

June 9, 2012The XF1 can be formatted as either NTFS or FAT32 which, in the words of a review “means the drive isn’t Mac friendly”. My guess is that currently it is formatted as NTFS, which is read-only on your Mac.
You can format it as FAT32 using Disk Utility and it will then work with your Mac. However, in FAT32 there’s a limitation of 4GB on the size of individual files, which could cause you problems (e.g. with large video files). Nevertheless, this looks like your best bet.

June 9, 2012As well as what Oron said, it if is formatted and NTFS (which you can find out in Disk Utility by clicking on the drive and then reading the info at the bottom of the screen), you can also try apps like Paragon NTFS which enable you to read and write to an NTFS drive. There is also a way to this through Terminal if you don’t want to shell out for software.

October 10, 2012It’s most likely that your Mac can’t write to the hard drive’s format. You should maybe considering get software that can read NTFS formats (common for Windows)
