Why can I not download from Google Play store to my Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i?

Tomiwa Ajiboye asks:

I cannot download any application from Google Play store to my Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i using my mobile carrier. I do not know the reason for this. I can only use a WiFi network.

I contacted Sony Ericsson’s customer care and I was told it was a manufacturer problem. I was also told to contact Sony customer care, since Sony Ericsson is now Sony. I tried, but I couldn’t reach them (probably because of my nationality).

If there’s anything I can do by myself to fix this problem, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

1. Goto Menu>Settings>Apps>All>Google Framework Services>Clear Data
2.Do the same thing for the Google Play Store App
3. Reboot your phone
try to download

Have you tried installing the modified APK for Google Play?

I should warn you that installing it may have unpredictable results (like with any customized software), but if you install the region-free, modified version, it should cut through a lot of potential barriers (such as region-locked apps, etc). I don’t think it’s compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich, in case you have upgraded your ROM.

You may want to consider using Titanium Backup to remove (it’s suggested in that thread) Google Play, prior to installing the modified version. Good luck!

Tomiwa, firstly did you register your phone with the Google account, it is under Settings – Accounts & Sync in your Android phone, then you need to go to the Google Play on the net and see that your phone is registered automatically and thus you can Download your apps. Enjoy. We call that at my work an ID Ten T problem. letter and numerals, Just for fun.
