Why am I having trouble installing Office 2007 on my Ubuntu machine?

Antriksh Saxena asks:

I am following this tutorial (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/easily-install-microsoft-office-2007-linux/) to install Office 2007 on my Ubuntu 12.04. The problem I am facing is that i get the error “Error: Unable to find the CD-ROM”. When it asks for the CD-ROM path, I click on other and then copy my path there. I have an .ISO image of Office 2007. I tried mouning it with Mounty and then giving the path there but it doesn’t work. I also extracted all the files and folders of the image into a folder and giving the location of that folder but even that doesn’t work. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be??

perhaps to be able to run the “setup.exe” installer, right click it, select “Properties” and on the “Permissions” tab check the “Allow executing file as program” box. Now double clicking setup.exe should open it using WINE. If it doesn’t, right click it and select “Open with Wine Windows Program Loader”.

if you’re following this tutorial, did you do the “Ctrl” + “L” to browse for the folder?

I prefer to extract the files from the ISO, because it just feels much better. Extract it, and then copy the folder path and then try?

Have you installed PlayOnLinux properly? Have you ensured that the ISO you’re using is fine, and compatible?

If you need any office suite, then give OpenOffice a try. Many users love it. But i prefer MS Office :)
