I’m actually looking for two features in a mobile phone which I wish to buy – one is a good music player (with at least decent battery backup and loud sound with the built-in speaker) AND multiple – at least 7 – 8 alarms and more if possible. All the alarms need to be used in a single day. And the alarms should have an option of selectable mp3 ring tones or songs – this is very important.
If these two features aren’t available in a single phone, I’ll get one phone for each but I don’t know which phone has the multi alarm feature. And for the music phone, since the Nokia xpressmusic series seems to be discontinued, I don’t know which phone is a great music player and also sounds good on the built-in speaker.
One other requirement for the music phone would be at least 16 GB card support, but 32 GB would be better.
May be my requirement is very peculiar about the alarms feature but well, this is 2012 and isn’t this simple thing possible?

June 2, 2012nokia is now not giving out a good inbuilt speaker… May be giving the worst one… Really…. I have a C6 00 which really sounds like a radio… But the multiple alarm feature which you are looking for is available here… You can set up multiple alarms in a day… But donot know the maximum number but 5-6 is atleast possible…. It runs on s60v5… You can see the nokia N8 which has a nice inbuilt speaker too and obviously its gr8 camera is amazing.. Or go for those which are running on belle…

June 2, 2012ANY Android phone can do this. I suggest the official Google Galaxy Nexus or similar non-skinned phone (what you want is one that says ‘with Google’ somewhere on it. this means no crapware).

Not sure about SD cards with that one though, check specs to make sure they fit your needs.

June 2, 2012You must prefer Android phones for your needs as they support third party apps for alarms as well as have SD card support. But note that some new Android phones are coming without SD card support but have 16 GB minimum internal memory.
HTC One V is good phone as it has good sound and supports 32 GB capacity SD card.

June 2, 2012I have a HTC sensation xe, which claims to deliver a better music experience through beats audio. It also comes with a 16GB sd card, with the ability to handle larger, and the ability to set multiple alarms through native android software or apps

June 2, 2012Multiple alarms :
Most smart and basic Nokia mobiles provide unlimited alarms in the form of reminders.
Which you can repeat daily, ( or weekly, monthly.)
Tested ok by setting 10 reminders at 10 different times.
Try N series for music and memory.
Hello Jay and others,
Thanks for replying and all these replies have helped me. I thought that since on more Nokia phones, only one alarm existed, it can’t be used. Reminders would do the job but I’ll have to find a model which allows me to select the ringtone for the alarm for each of the reminders.
Otherwise, I’ll go for an android phone. But most of the samsung android phones are low on speaker volume so will have to try HTC like Scutterman and Susendeep mentioned, and beats audio means it has a dedicated music chip which is what I’m looking for in the mobile I want. The Nokia 5800 xpressmusic has a dedicated chip for music but is not available anymore.
Jay – thanks for testing 10 reminders for me. Are the N-series mobiles at par with the xpressmusic models and do some of them have stereo speakers?
June 2, 2012Well, you can select a ringtone of your choice for reminders, but if you need a different ringtone for each of them…I think only an customized application can do it.
Surprisingly, Only n8 is there from the N series on the Nokia India website under the list of “all phones” .
Check these videos for speaker experience,

n8 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJqTUturP3g
Both have 32 gb expandable and 16 gb internal memory.
June 3, 2012And one more reason why every time I see a question, I find my answer in a nokia phone…

June 4, 2012The iPhone does all you ask. The custom ringtones you create are available as an Alarm tone as well.
This is all available in the default Clock app that comes in iOS. No additional apps required/needed to be downloaded.
