Osama Javaid asks:
I want to install a good but free Office suite, which can create and edit Word and PowerPoint files, a free PDF reader with a clean UI for pleasing reading experience, and a reputable apps monitor, which keeps a real-time check on apps crossing phone CPU or memory usage threshold. Any suggestions?
Also, do custom launchers use a lot of CPU/memory/battery?

January 10, 2013Osama,
Let me answer your question pointwise.
1. Free Office Suite -> Kingsoft Office 5.2.2 (Free) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wps.moffice_eng&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNuLndwcy5tb2ZmaWNlX2VuZyJd
2. PDF Reader -> Adobe Reader https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.reader&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hZG9iZS5yZWFkZXIiXQ..
3. Apps Monitor -> Auto Memory Manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lim.android.automemman&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5saW0uYW5kcm9pZC5hdXRvbWVtbWFuIl0.
Now coming to your last question. It depends on the individual launchers, the way they are designed. Some maybe resource hungry and other maybe resource efficient. I personally use a custom launcher on my Sammy ICS smartphone, and it actually is better and faster than the stock launcher. It is the Holo Launcher HD with the beautiful JellyBean interface. I simply love it and by default use that one only now. It is available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.hololauncher.hd&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JpbnQuaG9sb2xhdW5jaGVyLmhkIl0.

January 10, 2013Google Drive is an excellent choice. You can also upload your files to the drive which can be accessed through mobile, desktop or tablets.

January 16, 2013I would also vote for Kingsoft and Adobe. You should always look for discounts/sales/price drops on Google Play, so that you can grab one of the better Office suites for as low as $0.99. I got all my office suites (yes, more than one) from sales

January 20, 2013kingsoft definitely makes a good office suite.
there’s another, popular option called OfficeSuite Pro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.editor.office_registered). This is NOT FREE, but sometimes you might be able to get it for $1 or so. Keep an eye out for this one when it goes on sale.
