June 23, 2012Best starter cameras are the
Nikon D3200 (cheaper, lower than D5100 but newer technology so it can be compared to the D5100 although its a starter’s DSLR)
Nikon D5100 (good low noise results)
Canon 60D (internal motor to autofocus easily with more lenses)
Canon 650D / Rebel T4i (touch screen, HDR mode)
I think the D5100 or 60D would be good. Depending on whatever you’re more comfortable with.

June 23, 2012The main popular camera brands are Nikon, Cannon, and Olympus. Depending on your needs would depend on what you should get. If you want a more portable style other than the lens size would be like the Olympus PEN series that offers the 4/3 style that has a body more like a point-and-shoot design with interchangeable lenses. If you like the motorized focus of lenses, then the Cannon Rebel series would be for you. The most common of these brands would be Nikon that offers more of a classic style of SLR cameras. beyond those features, each of these brands offer very trusted and high quality products and features. Just realize that the lenses are costly averaging $250 or more and you might want to purchase a different lens for the type of photos you might want to take. The basic lens that typically comes with these cameras does a great job, but for longer distance shots you would need a longer range lens. Base your decision on what you would like in the camera and not quite so much as “which is the best” as it will be different for each person. Those are the top brands popularity-wise, but also in their quality of build and performance. Let us know what features you are looking for and we can better assist you. One size does not fit all, and what one camera may offer may not be what you are looking for.

June 24, 2012I’m usually strictly a Canon person…..have owned several over the years. However, recently, I took a risk on a Sony nex and,I could not be happier! There are several models. I use it for professional work. It is so advanced, I don’t even need a flash when taking night time photos. Plus it is compact and easy to carry around.

June 24, 20121) the nikon D3100 was voted as the best entry level DSLR last year,
and nikon now launched the better brother Nikon D3200 with better user interface, and a more powerful lens of 24.1 MP as compared to 14MP of the D3100…
2) if you are into canon you may like Canon EOS Rebel T4i (650D) 18MP
3) EOS 550D ( kit I or II as you may like from canon official)18MP and full HD recording in upto 30fps
4) EOS 600D (same as above)

June 25, 2012Just an extra bit of advice; make sure you get one at least 14MP, the higher the better tsar you can afford in respect to the camera you like. I had a friend that purchased a 5MP Nikon DSLR at $500, but there were already 8MP cameras out, and 2 months later an 8MP version of what she had came out for not much more than she paid. Check to see if there is going to be an upgraded version coming out soon as it will drive the price of the one you may be checking out now down, or the newer version might not be much more than what you would get for the other.
