Which cross-platform video calling mobile apps use minimum RAM while running in background?
Apps like wechat use a lot of memory even while running in background! I don’t want that!

WeChat is from a Chinese company TenCent ( http://www.tencent.com/en-us/index.shtml ). I would not entrust my VOIP communication with them. Most of chinese company’s have snooping tendencies on communications.

      Thanks

Yes pretty good amount of RAM used in background when not in video-call. That is why this question was posted

It is nice that the RAM usage is considerably light-weight "during video-call period". But which video app would occupy least RAM while running in background?

yap this was just to point how much hard will work on your android phone
considering background activity i did not see any detailed studies, it is up to you to try some record their backgound activity and the choose the right one for you. if i see something then sure will point it to you.

Skype is the goto app for most people but Whatsapp is another good app for international use. T mobile's Bobsled app is becoming more and more popular. Skype is probably the most common and easy to use service. I have it running continually on my Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have not noticed any performance issues.
