you have to install the software, and the codec pack

change the file association so that the file plays in divx plus player. although i would recommend using something like media player classic or VLC.
I have used K-light codec pack (just google it),and never bothered downloading any other codecs, as this codec pack contains everything that I need and a nice Media Player Classic that I always use for watching movies.
IS not it as simple as opening the movie files with player ?
right click and open with divx player.
Or open the properties and set divx player as “open with” option.

I would download the standard version that includes media player classic by default. Also keep in mind that if you are running a x64 system, you will also have to download and install the x64 version of the codecs.
