Why have VLC Media Player and Firefox stoped working in Windows 7?

I was browsing the net and watching a movie simultaneously. Suddenly, both my VLC and Mozilla were closed. Now even as I click on their icons they are not opening. I tried reinstalling them and also restored previous versions and troubleshooting compatibility, but it didn’t work.

    Have you run complete antivirus and antimalware scans on the affected computer?

          DOWNLOAD THIS Free eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) http://www.escanav.com/english/content/products/MWAV/escan_mwav.asp
          install this software & scan whole computer &
          try both software firefox & vlc,if this not working for you then download latest version of both vlc & firefox
          let us know if this problem is solved
