How to use multiple volume controls for media which plays on a Windows PC?

I have about three volume controls on various software on my computer: One main control on the Windows system tray, then one on media player (either for CD playing software or on web streaming media Flash Player) and if external speakers are being used then their woofer or speaker themselves may have volume control.

How to balance the controls?

well i think all of them will use windows volume since the sound comes from the speaker, now if one of them has special volume feature like enhancing the sound for example volume in the media player then this can only be controlled from the media player. If you install additional sound software like DFX Audio Enhancer, SRS Audio Essentials, Bongiovi Acoustics DPS...then they will take over your windows sound system.
