Why is my USB pen drive not recognized after formatting it?

Y. Bhattacharya asks:

On inserting my pen drive, message displayed that disk needs to be formatted. Formatted the disk. However, after this the pen drive is not recognized at all, and does not show up anywhere. Can anyone advise me how to fix this problem?

Try on other pcs, or under linux, Mac.

Try right clicking on My Computer, Select Manage, Under Computer Management then select Disk Management. Choose your usb gig drive, Delete the partition and make a new one again then format it as FAT.

After plugging in the device. Go to device manager (In run type “devmgmt.msc”) In Device manager go to “Universal serial bus controllers” It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click “Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.

thanks for the tips. however, the computer does not detect the device on any computer. i guess it is damaged because of some reason.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.htmlif you see that its recognized also after reboot then go to CMD and type format E: /FS:FAT32 (E is your USB drive letter)
