Why does my USB memory stick show up as a card reader?

My USB memory stick is recognized and works in USB 1 ports but when I plug it into a USB 2 port it shows up as a “Realtek USB 2 Card Reader.” How do I fix this?

I'm having the same problem on two usb 2.0 flash drives of mine.
I've used them on both usb 2.0 and usb 3.0 ports.

Both are no-name 8GB USB stick drives and show up in the "My Computer" section as a "Removable Disk" that is grayed out and when I try to open it it says "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk".

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
    Is this a fixable issue?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Derek,

Is the port compatible with your USB device (i.e they are both USB 2.0)? Some manufacturers will identify with different names, does the USB still work?
