You can update your phone and get apps,themes etc. by two methods mentioned below –
Using phone – Go to settings–>Software Update–>Sign in with your Samsung account or create a new account if you haven’t created before.Then it will ask you to agree to terms and conditions.Agree to it.Then it will update your phone automatically.During update your phone may restart so you must leave your phone undisturbed.
Since the update size is approximately 160 MB you must have a good internet data plan to download such a update or you can connect your phone to your friends wi-fi to allow faster update.
Using PC –
You can update your phone using PC. For this to work the minimum requirements for your PC must be –
1 GB RAM(2 GB recommended),
Windows XP XP3,
300 MB of free hard disk space,
.Net framework 4.0 client version preinstalled.
Then install Samsung Kies which you can get by visiting the link below –

If there’s an update available for your phone then a window will popup asking your confirmation for your update.Do adhere to the instructions given during the update and follow them.Your phone will restart once.

Try factory reset your phone.Go to Settings –> Reset.It’ll ask you password which is 00000 by default.
