How can I update my Karbonn A1 from 2.2 Froyo to 2.3.6 Ginerbread?

My phone Android Froyo, I want to update to Gingerbed, any version. Please help me guys because many of the applications are not working in Android 2.2. The main thing is that this phone is only to be sold in India.

Hello Angad, I’m sorry, but it’s highly unlikely that the Karbonn A1 has received any kind of update to Gingerbread. As a general rule, phones with 600MHz CPUs and below rarely receive official updates from handset manufacturers beyond 2.2. Even so, 2.2 is a decent operating system if you maintain a minimal number of installed apps.

Sadly, even community sourced projects aren’t very likely to update such phones and my search revealed nothing for the A1.

All isn’t lost, though. There’s some evidence to suggest that you can root your phone through sideloading the linked to APK, which (when combined with other software) will allow you to remove bloatware and other useless software that’s bogging your CPU down.

In fact, the single best thing you can do for a slow smartphone is remove all unnecessary applications through Titanium Backup. You can use TB to freeze apps that can’t be removed. Frozen apps will no longer load in the background, so your phone will feel faster and more responsive. Also your battery life will improve.

Karbonn A1 is sold in other places with different name, in brazil it is N721, OTHER PLACES IT IS CALLED ZTE RACE. SO WRONG TO SAY ONLY SOLD IN INDIA.
ALSO IT CAN GET A ROM 2.3 BUT PROBLEM LOSES BASE AND IMEI. TRIED WRITING IT ALL WAYS DIDNT WORK.

You can check for update for your phone by going to Settings –> About Phone –> update.

Since looking at your phone,it’s hardware is not strong enough to handle Gingerbread,so the manufacturer has not updated it to latest version.There are not any ROMs available for your phone to flash it on your phone over internet.
