Rajeev Dandu asks:
I want to download ubuntu 12.04 for my 64-bit machine. Is ubuntu 12.04 available for 64-bit machines? If yes, how and from where should I download? Otherwise which is next best OS?

May 1, 2012It certainly is!
You can get it from the standard Ubuntu download page: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Click the “Choose your flavor” box on the page and select 64-bit.
Is that for intel processor? The size given there is 698MB is that correct?

Yes — Intel or AMD, works for both.

May 1, 2012Yes! Both 32 and 64 bit Ubuntu is published to the Ubuntu website and available for download. Give it a try!

On that page click the dropdown and select 64bit.
Linux had 64bit years before Microsoft did. Most distros have a 64bit version along side the 32bit. I’d venture a guess that there are almost NO distros that don’t offer a 64bit version.
