Why has the transfer speed to my external hard drive become slow after formatting?

I have a WD-2 TB external Hard Drive, which I formatted recently. I used to transfer files from laptop to this drive and it was very fast. After formatting, the file transfer has become very slow. What can be the reason and how can I regain the transfer speed.

Hello, I would visit the WD site.  Most times, they include extra software like firmware for those external drives.  Here is the link:

    http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?level1=1&lang=en

    -- select your drive
-- download any firmware for it
    -- install it
    -- see if it helps

Also, have you tried using a different USB port?

connect your hard drive then In my computer right click on your hard drive:, select properties, then tools. Select check disk and turn on both check boxes.
