How can I get Time Capsule to work on my Mac?

How do I get time capsule to work on my Mac? I have put in the CD and followed the instructions, but its not backing up my stuff. This is supposed to be a big help, but its just giving me a headache, can you help?

    Do you have a hard drive connected to the time capsule? What color is the light on the time capsule. The light codes can be found here http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/TimeCapsule_SetupGuide.pdf on page 11.

    Are you connecting to the time capsule’s wireless network from the client you want to backup?
