Jeffery Fabish asks:
I need an application that will restore all files, documents and registry entries to a previous date. Applications such as System Restore do not handle documents.
An application such as DeepFreeze would be nice, but that’s a corporate app. Thanks

What’s the difference between differential and incremental backups (and why should I care)?

Also if you are using Windows 7 with higher versions you can use system restore just for documents and applications or the whole system.

April 4, 2012I have used Macrium Reflect (free edition) for several years. I have restored complete system from backup images several times and found it worked very well.
It restores everything. But you also have the ability to “Mount” the backup image as a drive allowing you to copy individual files or if necessary do a complete file syncronization using a utility like PureSync. I have done this when my Picture directories got messed up.
What is nice about PureSync is you have total control of what you are syncing. One caveat, I would not attempt to sync System files, directories, hidden files etc. That option is only recommended for user files, pictures, office docs etc. Don’t get me wrong, it will do it, but there are low level rules and interactions between such files that partial handling could mess up.
