How can I sync backed up app data with my iPod touch?

I have an 8GB iPod touch, which I have been using for about a month. I have been syncing it with my laptop running Windows 7 and iTunes 9.

Recently, my computer crashed, but I managed to take a backup using a live CD version of Ubuntu. Now I have transferred my apps to another computer with the transfer purchases option.

But I don’t know how to transfer app data like Stanza ebooks/downloaded levels etc. Can anyone help me?

If your data is still on your iPod you can re-sync it with your newly installed iTunes through the options on iTunes. The actual data/settings of applications I'm not sure about. Maybe you could just navigate to the application files and replace them with the current version you want on your iPod. Replacing the files and syncing should get your settings/date back in sync, although I'm not entirely sure.

I own an iPod Touch that I had to re-sync before, although I didn't mind losing my settings. A lot of the apps I cared about had my settings saved through an online account.

I don't have iPod Touch so I don't have first hand experience on this subject. But I found this support article on the net, hopefully it could help: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
