Hi,

Can you suggest a program that can be installed on a laptop for it to be tracked down in case it is lost or stolen?

Thank you

Prey would be my first choice. ("YAY" for open source!)

I would recommend Prey for windows. I also use Prey for my Android phone, so if you also use a smartphone, I would recommend prey for that, too
    Get it at http://www.preyproject.com

Amina, as a Law Enforcer in my country and working at an IT unit, I would suggest that you go with GrGrrr and his suggestion to you. We have found laptops in our country that originate from the US that were reported stolen and it had Lojack installed.

If you use Quickheal antivirus solutions, then they provide you laptop tracking facility. So,if you use it then visit the link below to register your laptop -

LoJack is also good which works at firmware level and prevents being getting detected -

I second that. Prey looks amazing, but for the record I've never had to use it.
