How can I stop QuickTime from hijacking my MP3 downloads?

Every time I try to download mp3s to my computer (to put into iTunes and hence my iPod) QuickTime takes over and there is no download. I fixed this problem on another computer last year, so I know it’s possible. I just can’t remember how. Please help! The people who made QuickTime are unconscionable.

    I can now download mp3 from IE / firefox and SAVE .. smug, moi? ;))

    Try following,

    Open Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Type
    tab.

    Next, highlight "Quick Time Player Plugin" and click Edit. Then make sure that "Confirm open after download" is checked.

    I totally agree with you. I hate quick time - it is such as pain.

    What you want is how to change the default program for a file type. Here are the links:
