How can I stop Firefox from automatically opening video downloads?

pramod patil asks:

I am using Windows XP service pack 3 with Firefox 9.1. I want to change my settings so Firefox will not always open a downloaded video right after it completes the download. How do I do this?

in firefox go to options then applications look for video and change to always ask

may be you have another download manager, if its the case bring the settings window and look there. or maybe in youtube somehow you activated autoplay?

Hello, you could try the following:

    – open firefox
    – click on Tools
    – select options
    – on menu, click on applications
    – look for file extension you do not want to open
    – click on file to highlight, click on down arrow and then
    – select always ask
    – click on ok
    – test settings
