What software can I use for my Hewlett Packard scanner?

I bought a Hewlett Packard scanner not too long ago, but to my great surprise, it didn’t come with any software. So now I need to scan a document, but I don’t have any software to scan with.

Can you suggest something (preferably free)? I looked at image programs such as Google Picasa, but I don’t see any function for scanning documents.

Thanks.

Perfect, thanks! I didn't realise Windows 7 offered that functionality.

    Hi Mark,
I was looking for software for my HP scanner and found two sources
check both of these sites out, in most case the updated driver package
comes with software programs for doing most projects.
I found what I needed below:

If you have Windows 7 you can right click on the scanner device under Devices and Printers and start a scan from there using built in scanning wizard. XP should have a similar wizard also accessible from the Printers and Scanners folder.
