To cancel shutdown, go to RUN and type SHUTDOWN /A and press enter. You will be notified about cancellation of scheduled shutdown if you already scheduled the shutdown for windows.

July 14, 2012Which version of Windows are you using?
I asked that because there are a couple of things you can change in the registry to force a faster shutdown and app timeout.

July 14, 2012Like others, I usually use the command line command “shutdown”. Ocassionally, I use Wizmo or NirCMD (both of which have many other functions). Neither of them have a shutdown timer as such, but NirCMD has a “wait” function, which does just that, so you could simply string two commnands (wait x seconds, shutdown).
However, what do you mean by “best”? After all, shutdown is shutdown… Is there any particular function or feature you are after?
the main feature that I’m after is a password protection
July 14, 2012and Thanks in advance
