Can I set iTunes as my default audio player?

Mark Hopkins asks:

I route iTunes music wirelessly through Airport Express to my stereo, but I can only do so with iTunes. Is there any way I can force iTunes to play all audio files including streaming audio?
If not, is there a device that will transmit computer audio to my home stereo? Any recommendations?
I’m on a Mac.

    Mark,

    did you try the following, yet:

    Highlight an mp3 file and press apple+I. On the info pane look for > Open with and select > itunes. Then select > Change all.

    As far as I know, steaming audio is only played via QT. I haven’t tried it yet, but you can use SoundSource from RogueAmoeba OR try AirFoil
    (paid app $25) also from RogueAmoeba
