I upload videos to Vimeo and then just send the link.

Try http://www.yousendit.com where you can upload large files where they stay on the server for 1 week for free. It sends an email to the recipient which just goes on the site and downloads to their PC, iphone etc. The free version limits you to 1 file at a time (no folders though). If you want to use it for multiples you have to subscribe. It's really useful.

I've often found (if you own your own website) that the best way is to zip the file (use 7Zip) and then upload it to your website server. Then send the person the link and ask them to download it from your server. But obviously, how long this takes them depends on their own internet speed (not very viable if they are on a 56k modem!).

But if you use this method, make sure it doesn't stay on your server for very long - because others could potentially find it and you don't want that.

The other and most secure way could be to use a private peer to peer network. Check out the following two posts for some ideas:

The simplest answer is to send them the link!

You can try compressing your videos following this excellent how-to, but it's always better to use another service such as Opera Unite, which lets you share files without having to upload it (using a web server).

    Bee,

    how large is the movie?

Sending large files (more than 2-5 MB) via eMail is not a good idea. It's better to upload them to a server and share the download link via eMail.

David wrote an article on "3 Simple Ways To Send Big Files Over The Internet". You can read it here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-simple-ways-to-send-huge-files-over-the-web/
