Why can’t I send mail via the PostBox mail client?

shahnawaz ahmad asks:

I am using the PostBox mail client. When I try to send mail it always fails. What can I do? I am running Window 7.

Shahawas, we need more information. What error are you getting? Who is your email provider? Are you using POP3, IMAP or some other email protocol?

i am getting this massage…The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.gmail.com timed out.

no i am using this first time , before this i was using microsoft outlook. and yes i receive massage ok….

In that case, double check your SMTP settings. My guess is that you either forgot to enable SSL or to set the port to 993.

Just occurred to me your firewall may also cause be an issue. If the items mentioned below do not solve the problem, disable your firewall and try again. If this resolves the problem, you’ll need to configure your firewall to let this traffic through.
