Why does my SD card run out of room while downloading?

Hi, I have a 2GB SD card with 1.23GB of free space left. The problem is when I try to download a movie using uTorrent, it starts downloading, but after 160MBs are downloaded, my SD card shows 268mb space available.

It sometimes shows 16.33MB of space left. I also restarted my phone and also downloaded from different site but nothing happens and when I delete the downloaded file my memory is back to normal, which is like 1.23GB

Please help me!!!

As stated in the uTorrent FAQ when you start a download the necessary space will be allocated ahead. So even if the download was running for only 2 seconds the entire space required by the full download will be "used up" and deducted from the free space.

Secondly, are you sure your download is stored on the SD card in the first place? According to the uTorrent FAQ it does not officially support downloading to the SD card.

How do I save to my SD card?
We do not support saving to SD cards, though some users have had success doing this (it varies by phone model). KitKat (Android OS v4.4) device owners: you may have issues downloading to an external SD card. You may also lose all of your torrented files when you uninstall the app. This is a Google issue-- it’s not specific to the uTorrent app: please see http://bit.ly/1iqWRmu for more.Tip for those without SD card support: Download the torrent to your phone. After it's completely finished downloading, use a free file manager app from the Google Play Store to move it around.
