Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Click on ‘Turn Windows features on or off’. In the Windows Features dialog box, expand ‘Media Features’ and clear the checkbox for Windows Media Player. Click OK to complete the change.NOTE: This does not remove all program files and DLLs associated with WMP as some of those files are required for other elements of the operating system, but it does remove WMP as a media player option unless re-enabled (includes reinstallation by the standalone installer available from the MS website).

if you go to control panel and find windows media player on the programs tab, you can disable the windows feature. as for removing it entirely, i would say its not easy because it’s default to windows os :O

Not true, it depends on the version especially with Win7.
The ‘N’ version has no Media Center with it at all.

Hello, you could try the following steps:

– click on start
– control panel
– click on Programs tab
– under Programs and features, click on Turn windows features on/off
– Click on “+” sign next to Media Features to expand it
– Find the entry for windows media player, and uncheck the mark next to it
– click on ok\
– that should unistall windows media player

Yeah, there’s no way to completely remove WMP. :-( As everyone else said, you can disable it by following Bruce Epper’s instructions.

You can’t uninstall it as it is provided as inbuilt in windows.
You can turn it all features off or change your default media program to Vlc or any other program that you like

That is true, the feature can be disabled by going to “Turn Windows features on or off’, but it cannot be uninstalled.
