What can I do to remove threats (Tracking Cookies) from my computer, detected by CA Internet Security. CA detects them, but does not remove them. How can I remove them for free?

Probably CA Internet Security can clean your cookies but it has to be configured to do so. Pretty much every browser has the option to delete cookies once you close it. Also you can set up your browser so that it can keep cookies that you want to keep by adding them to an exception list.

If you are using Firefox you can set it up this way:

    -- Click on Tools
    -- Options
-- Privacy >> Use custom settings for history >> keep until >> pick when I close firefox
-- Check mark clean history when firefox closes
-- click on settings >> check all the options in box that pop up >> ok >> ok

If you are using Chrome follow the following steps:

    -- click on wrench
    -- options
    -- Under the hood tab
-- Content Settings >> highlight cookies >> clear cookies and other site data when I close my browser >> click close
-- That should be it. Everytime browser is closed your history, cookies, etc. should be cleaned.

If you are using Internet Explorer:

    -- Tools
    -- internet options
-- Advanced Tab >> scroll down until you reach Security heading >> Under security heading scroll down until you find "empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed" and check mark the box next to it.
    -- Click apply
    -- click ok
    -- restart browser

    Hope it helps

    Sylvia,

first of all, a cookie is just a simple text file, it doesn't do any harm by itself.

    Where do cookies come from?
Websites leave cookies on your computer to store login data and other information, for example to track your browsing habits, hence the name 'tracking cookies'.

    How can I remove them?
I'm surprised CA Internet Security won't remove cookies. Anyways, you should be able to remove cookies from within your browser. What browser are you using?

Alternatively, you can use a free program like CCleaner to remove cookies from all your browsers at once.
