Pradeep Singhal asks:
External card of my digital camera got infected with some virus that turned all folders containing pictures into .exe files. The antivirus on my system automatically repaired it.
Now what can I see is there are few folders and shortcuts on my card, without any photo. However, I am still able to see the photos on my camera. Please advice me how to get back all those photos.

July 5, 2012Photorec and Recuva are good answers. That Unhide program might work too. It appears to be legitimate in that the software is digitally signed, meaning the company went through the trouble of get a security certificate for their software which is supposed to mean they are who they claim to be and are an legitimate company, not a virus maker. They also have to pay at least $100 for such a certificate…
My list of freeware along the lines of Recuva and Photrec is here: . I tested the various freeware for recovering images off a digital camera card. Some were better and recovered more images than others:

I use this and it works wonderful plus it is free, just install and follow the instructions.
