How can I recover data from a formatted external hard drive?

GTO Indy asks:

I was trying to format a flash drive and mistakenly clicked on my external hard drive. It is now formatted and all my files and data are gone. Is there a way to recover that data?

You can try a Deep Scan with Recuva or also try PC File Inspector. I’ve recovered deleted files with both of them. You probably won’t find anything if you performed a full format, but a quick format still has hope.
