David Hallengren asks:
While recording podcasts on GarageBand, the levels appear to be even, but upon ending the recording, they settle so that the lower level is virtually muted. Probably a noob error, but I’d appreciate any help.

Add volume automation points to the line, you can adjust the volume at the points where it is clipping without having to interfere with the sections that are not distorted.

August 2, 2012When starting to record, uncheck the box that says “automatic level control” underneath the slider for recording level (bottom right).
Also check preferences -> advanced -. disable “auto normalize” (though this only affects upon export of the track).
