Can you recommend a software to catalog my media files?

What I am looking for is a basic program that I can use to catalog my book, music, and film collections. Off-line preferably, so it’s always available. One that can be ordered according to different criteria, for instance, with books, alphabetically by author or title, or by genre.

With both my book and music collection running comfortably into four figures and my films into three, all of them split between hard copies and digital, computer and external hard-drive, keeping track and avoiding duplication is becoming nearly impossible.

Thanks, Roger.

For movies in particular you can check out Ant Movie Catalog.

    Hi Roger,

What OS that you use? Under Mac there's a nice software called Delicious Library (http://delicious-monster.com/) that do exacly that, in style. It's not free but I personally think worth the price.

For Windows, you can try Libra (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/manage-your-games-books-dvds-and-audio-with-libra/)

I'm using Windows 7. I followed your link for the muo Libra piece. Unfortunately Libra seems to no longer exist (your link leads to a "Go Daddy" sales pitch). However, in the comments following the Libra piece "Simon" suggests a program called "Datacrow" which I have just downloaded and on first inspection it appears to be exactly what I wanted.
      Thank you, roger.

        Hi Roger,

I've checked the official site and the site seems 'missing' at the
moment. However, the app itself is still exist and can be downloaded
from many of download sites. This is one of them:

I downloaded and tried Libra and it looked good except every time it opened I got an Internet Explorer (I use Firefox) pop-up advertisement, unfortunately I find that sort of thing gets tiresome very quickly.
          Thank you, roger.
