Anyone know of an alternative to bring up the multitasking screen (by default a long press of the menu button). The physical button is a slight annoyance.
P.S. I’ve tried almost all the task switcher/soft home button/dock options on Play. None gives me the option of *showing the stock multitasking screen*.
P.P.S. So far my favourite is Dock4Droid which lets me switch between apps, but doesn’t allow killing them.

July 2, 2012I would head over to http://www.xda-developers.com and join the forum there so you can ask them. They have many developers working on just about every aspect of the phone and have had many great accomplishments. You might not be the only one that would like this, and if there isn’t a fix they have, maybe they could make one.
Thanks. I’ll find the time to do that.

Note :- Rooting your phone is required and this will technically void your warranty. Also, perform backup of your phone and its firmware using Titanium backup.
Thanks a lot for your consistent help. I don’t intend to root my phone just yet though. Bookmarked the page for later.
July 4, 2012Thank you for your consistent help, Susendeep! I checked the link. Apparently only for the search function is rooting necessary. This helps a lot—thanks.

July 14, 2012Agreed, when I got my s3, I was shocked at how flimslily built it was from the thin plastic back to the rattling home button which feels like it might only last a few months. AlreaDy the power button feels alot squIshIer than It dId when I got It. My worry about replacing the menu function button with multitask is that random apps still seem to require a menu button. Still it would be nice to have an option I guess. Getting an iPhone 5 at this rate!

July 17, 2012Try the Zeam launcher… it gives several options for the home button action. Now if I can just figure out how to stop the home button from waking up the phone (had to disable palm-swipe screen captures!)
I also would like to stop the home button waking up the phone. It keeps ringing emergency numbers when in my jeans pocket, had to remove all ICE numbers. also had the swipe save a couple of times a nuisance

August 22, 2012Thank you, all for your inputs.
I put the VirtualKeys Recent shortcut on my Swipepad. Was using Dock4Droid as the switcher earlier.
This however, is perfect, since it allows killing apps as well. My S3 has a new life now!
