Can you recommend good Photoshop tutorials?

Alex asks:

I am new to Photoshop and along with messing around by myself I am looking for good Photoshop tutorials, preferably videos.
I have searched around myself (on YouTube), but I have yet to find anything actually good. I am looking for basics and even more advanced stuff – just to be familiar with all that Photoshop can do. Any one know good tutorials?

I think this site is pretty good http://psd.tutsplus.com/
But it really depends what you want to do. If you get stuck and don’t know how to do it, if you google it, you should find a tutorial on how to do it.

I would also have a look at this http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/10.0/help.html if you get stuck on finding anything.

And this page http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshop/

I hope they help

Hi Alex,

make sure to check MakeUseOf guides, both received pretty good feedback from users.

- An Idiot’s Guide to Photoshop – Part 2 [PDF]

Yeah, I have checked those out. Those are very well done.
Thanks!

Nothing beats NAPP (the National Association of Photoshop Professionals). Costs $99/year, but well worth it with all you get. Training, lots of free stuff, big discounts to most things related, Photoshop User mag, conventions, huge web sites, etc, etc. Their tens of thousands of members will happily agree. Best source on the planet, very close with Adobe.

Alex,
Try lynda.com for Photoshop and all sorts of other software tutorials. You can get unlimited access to tutorials for $25.00 a month. They have other payment plans too. You can also buy there lessons on DVD. Best of luck to you in your Photoshop adventures.

You’ll find it here – http://www.lynda.com

Photoshop at first for me was very intimidating. I have been working with it for about a year now and I’m still no where near as good as I would want to be

I started with the School of Photoshop series on tutorial nine
http://www.tutorial9.net/school-of-photoshop/
they have good detailed tutorials on all there is to the program

For beginners, the “You suck at Photoshop” video series on youtube is a great help

For more video tutorials, check out http://psd.tutsplus.com/articles/web/18-of-the-best-photoshop-videos-online/

Some of the best Photoshop tutorial sites are:
http://psd.tutsplus.com/
http://pshero.com/
http://www.tutorial9.net/

unlike some other commenters here. I would not recommend lynda.com tutorials. sure they are good, but they are long, and personally I can’t sit and watch an entire tutorial. besides, there are lots of free tutorials available that are just as good, if not better.

Hi Shaheer, thanks for the comprehensive answer!
