Can you recommend a free word processing software for a MacBook Pro?

I want to get a free copy of Windows Word onto my Mac. My OSX doesn’t have any kind of a Windows Word program on this new computer, although my old iMac did. Please help me.

Microsoft Word is part of the Office for Mac package.
If you have a valid licence for your iMac one option would be to deinstall it on this device and install it on the MacBook Pro. Depending on the licence type you may even be allowed to have it installed on both devices as long as you don't use it simultaneously.

Alternatives are open source office packages as Jay already linked or you could look into AbiWord or Bean.
