Can you recommend the best free duplicate file remover for Windows?

I have many duplicate files on my computer. I downloaded “Easy Duplicate Finder” but it only deletes a few files. To delete the other duplicates, I have to purchase the software.

My laptop is really slow and I think it’s because the hard drive is almost full. I need to get rid of these duplicates that are taking up space on my hard drive. What free software is there to do the job?

I have been using a trial free version of Duplicate Files Deleter 5.6.Identical files not only waste your hard disk space, but also may cause system slowdowns. By deleting duplicate files you can reduce time needed to defragment your hard drives and minimize time used by antivirus to scan your computer.

It gives you the option of automatic deletion of all the duplicate files, it is not recommended that you carry this out. Instead choose the other options which give you the flexibility of choosing a location on a drive or using a detachable USB device to store the data. Once you have selected the place where you want to store the originals, you can be done with the duplicate files. Later you can move to accomplish the task.

There were 45,152 duplicate files on my laptop. Thanks to Duplicate Cleaner, I was able to get rid of 43,494 of those files. Thumbs Up! to Duplicate Cleaner.

Thank you for all the advice guys!

Try Auslogics Duplicate File Finder its simple and free. Also use CCleaner to remove other crap files. Archive old files onto an external HDD to get them off your laptop.

One of the best I have ever used (still use it to this day although I will be doing some customization of it in the near future) is found here.
