Can you recommend external USB sound devices?

What are the best inexpensive external USB sound devices, sound cards for an HP 64-bit computer that comes with an equalizer? I do transcription and need clarity and quality. My new computer has a Realtec driver, but not a lot of flexibility in modifying.

Or you could take another route: instead of using very expensive hardware, you could use much less pricy software that could slow down audio playing without sacrificing the quality. Something like Capo in Mac. Combine it with a reasonable hardware and you are good to go.

High-End (Not cheap) I'd recommend: Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 Gold Sound Card

Something good, but a ton cheaper I'd recommend: M-AUDIO Revolution 5.1; 5.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface High-Definition Sound Card

Just remember you get what you pay for ;)
