Can you recommend an alarm clock for Windows 7?

Sahil Dave asks:

Is there any software by which I can set a time for my laptop to turn on automatically and play an mp3, so that it serves me as an alarm clock?

I found an app called Alarm, check it out

alternatively you may just use Windows Task Scheduler or any programs with similar functionality. You won’t need to install anything for that. The following two articles show how to accomplish what you need in simple steps.

HiTry AlarmWiz-Sharewarehttp://www.acrovista.com/alarmwiz/tip1-n.htmlWith AlarmWiz, you can easily create a wake-up alarm or reminder by visually creating an alarm by following the steps below. In this example, we will create an alarm which plays an audio file every weekday morning at 7:30 with snoozing enabled.orSet Computer as Alarm Clock1.Press Start, ~> Control Panel ~>Classic View ~>Administrator Tools ~> Task Scheduler ~> Creat Basic Task.2.In the box, enter any name you want and give it a description. The click ‘Next’.3.How often to do you want task to start? Click daily if you are using your computer as a regular alarm call. Click ‘Next’.4.You will be asked what time you wish task to start. Enter the time you want and hit ‘Next’.5.Click on Start a Program ~> Next ~> Browse. Browse for a song or other sound you wish to use as your alarm call. Double click to select ~> Next ~> Finish
6.How to delete this Scheduled Task? Open the Task Scheduler and click on the Task Scheduler Library on the left sidebar. You will see the list of scheduled tasks. Choose the task and click on Delete from the right sidebar.

How is a program going to run if the computer is turned off? If the computer is hard wired to the network, maybe enable wake on lan and auto run a media player, but there would have to be another running computer on the network to send the wake on lan command (this is all pure uninformed speculation on my part)

For some reason although it sort of works for me but not quite. you should be able to check the “Wake the computer to run this task” under the conditions task. I ran a test by setting the alarm for a few minutes ahead and put my laptop into sleep or hibernate. Now with the laptop not being of it should be able to run the task of the alarm. For some reason it doesn’t. Any suggestions? And I have checked the run at highest privileges and run if user is logged in or not.
