Are there any programs like Connectify for Windows XP?

Wiwka Masyuka asks:

All programs like Connectify or Virtual Router require Windows 7. Are there any programs for sharing internet via wi-fi for Windows XP?

Connectify does work under Windows XP Service Pack 3 as ad-hoc (device to device) network.

Creating a software Access Point is a feature built into Windows 7 and those applications are mostly just a GUI to that functionality.

The only other software that states full XP compatibility I could find was RouterSoft.

Thanks, but RouterSoft is not free… It offers a free trial for 24 hours only

You can assume that any software that offers full virtual access point functionality under Windows XP will be commercial.
There are a lot of developmental costs involved creating the network stack, driver or whatever is necessary.

For Windows 7 this soft-ap functionality is already built-in. Most of these applications simply offer an interface for the existing commands.
