How can I print wirelessly to my local printer when I use VPN?

Ken Stec asks:

When I use a VPN for work, I can print locally at home if I run a USB cable to my printer. If I print to the wireless one, the printout only shows up when I break the VPN connection. I’ve added the IP address 192.168.2.5 to my local hosts file and to my remote desktop file at work. Any suggestions?
