MerVzter Balacuit asks:
Here’s the the scenario:
I’m currently renting my wired internet connection to an internet Cafe. My problem now is that the owner of the Cafe can trace how many computers I’m using at the moment. I know it’s possible to see it. This is invading my privacy.
Do you think my router can help me make my two computers appear as one, if he tries to look at it using any capable program?
By the way, I have a D-Link router and I have one PC and laptop and I need to use both.

July 28, 2012An IP address is unique to an individual computer on a network, similar to how your home has a unique address. IF using a router, the router will be assigned the IP address from your ISP. Any computers connected to the router will be assigned a local address by the router.
Windows uses the LLTD protocol to map computers and devices on a network.

Go to specific Tab > Tweaking Toolbox > Hide your Computer
or
Start Menu->Run window. type: “cmd”. Right click on it and launch with administrative rights, In the command prompt enter the following commands:
Net config server /hidden:yes
To check if your computer is hidden in the network type this in the command prompt
Net config server
but still They can find you by using an ipscanner, but Windows firewall has inbound and outbound firewall protection by default. If the Windows Firewall is turned off then it will have no effect, and the Inbound and Outbound rules will mean nothing.
Click the Start orb, type Firewall in Start Search, and select Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. Another quick way is to type wf.msc and hit Enter.
Now from the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security window, navigate to Actions > Properties. A properties dialog will open from where you can block the Outbound Connection. The the Inbound connection, it is disabled by default so that you can manually select which apps can connect to the internet.

July 28, 2012Use a second router. Configure it so that the first rule is to deny inbound connections from the current internal LAN addresses (it will have its own addresses for your computers). In this case, the other party will only see the IP address of the external interface of the second router and will be rejected from accessing anything on the other side of your internal “protective” router.
actually i realize this time that the owner use a switch from the modem .. and im using a router from the switch i connected.. but im very much thank for ur reply becos this gave me little idea..

July 31, 2012FYI, reselling your internet connection is directly against the terms of service of any consumer internet provider, and you could be liable for criminal charges.
