perhaps it is not possible to delete downloads in the iPhone iTunes you have to contact iTunes and asked them to delete for you.

look in your purchase history in iTunes and report the problem from there

or
Launch itunes on your computer, Store>Check for Available Downloads. Once complete, sync your phone.

if iTunes do not stop downloading expired rented movie then perhaps is a problem from iTunes server, then you have to contact them and they will remove it from download queue.

normally it will expire in 30 days and disappear from your iTunes library. You can delete the movie prior to the expiration date if you want to make more space on your hard drive, iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. However, the movie will automatically disappear from your iTunes library 24 (or 48) hours after you’ve begun viewing it.

1)Connect your iPhone to your computer
2)Check Manual Sync option
3)Expand iPhone’s folder tree, go to Movies
4)Manually delete expired rental movie files
5)Uncheck Manual Sync option and resync

It is easy. You have to pause the movie downloads, go into Edit/Preferences/General. Uncheck Sources/Movies. Go and delete the downloads that you paused. They will not start again.

I have not tried to check the sources/movies in the prefnces to see if the downloads start again. I am content to buy movies from vudu netflix or blockbuster from now on. I simply cannot afford the bandwidth, as my ISP has already reduced me twice.
