October 10, 2011If your pc gets back to remove the CD, and hangs when inserted, it means it has errors and pc cannot read it. crc error !
try another pc with the same cd or another copy of cd with the same pc !
hey hay tnx for reply, my gets normal when I remove CD but some CDs of films when I try to copy that stops copying after some time.
October 11, 2011Yes it happened to my “dil chahta hai” original vcd as well !
You have a crc error, it happens when cd gets damaged or scratched.
I gave you a guide how to deal with it. in previous comment.
October 11, 2011I will post more suggestion if I find..keep checking Makeusof answers
There are softwares like jrecovery to copy data from corrupt cd, but they are not free.
October 13, 2011And i dont think it is possible to read something which is not readable anymore.
you can try coying the files one by one, so only the files on the damaged part will not be copied.
and try to make clips out of movie file.
so only the damaged data will be left, and rest of them you can access.

October 11, 2011Run Chkdsk /f command for detecting and fixing file system errors.

Run SFC /Scannow

If the problem remains unsolved, you need to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows operating system

October 10, 2011Hello, can you explain a little bit more about what kind of CD software you are using? I am not saying this is your case, but when that happens is because in order for you to use your cd software (backup), you would need to start your computer from your cd for it to work. Have you done backups by just inserting your CD before? It also happens because your computer is not able to read your disk.
tnx for reply fidelis.
October 11, 2011This CD is my software backup CD and it hangs when I try to copy.
Hello, what program did you use to make the backup? If you are sure that your disk is clean, no scratches, smudges, dust, etc., maybe you need to install the program you used to make the backup.

October 11, 2011try this tool — CD Recover Toolbox — ( http://download.cnet.com/CD-Recovery-Toolbox-Free/3000-2352_4-10646814.html )
and read this article about damaged cds repar and data recovery on MakeuseOf ( http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-repair-and-recover-data-from-damaged-cds-or-dvds/ )
for minor physical errors , like dirt and grime on the cd ,
try this .
wash your cds with cold water , with slight rubbing on the dirty area .
rubbing should be light and in uni direction , linear motion .
no circular .
like from the center to the edge in one straight line .
let it dry and then clean off with a soft cloth in the same way as told before .
now run a Good Lens Cleaner disc in your cd player ( like Philips or Samsung … ) .
after these steps , now try playing the disc again .
has worked for me many times … :)
hope the info helps …

if you want to run chkdsk on windows xp, you have to restart windows xp to run that, whereas in windows 7 you dont have to restart pc.
CheckDiskGUI is an Graphical User Interface for the commandline version of chkdsk.exe. Chkdks.exe is a tool for searching and repairing disk errors

October 13, 2011what was the chkdsk report ?
if there are errors or bad sectors, it can recover it.
It can fix the errors by truncating the corrupt data.
happened with me, when one of my folders got corrupt data.
it removed some of them, and everything got normal.
you can read the reports of thisprocess while chkdsk is in progress.
If there were not any errors, then you don’t have to worry about HDD.
