If you’re trying to download from filehosts like rapidshare or hotfile, then I’d recommend Jdownloader: It downloads automatically from almost all the file hosts including youtube. It’s a free java program for windows as well as linux…

Free Download Manager is a popular download manager and a good choice for its stability, nice user interface and support for various browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari.

It also features downloads from RapidShare, prioritized and partial torrent downloads, adjusting traffic usage, flash video download and an upload manager. Management of downloaded files is well supported.

Orbit Downloader, which is based on p2p and multi-source downloading technology with more efficient mirrors selection algorithm for faster download. It’s also devoted to the new generation web to make downloading any social media easy and fast.

Orbit Downloader features Grab Pro to facilitate video download from sites using anti-leeching technology like YouTube, Pandora, etc. It also comes with a software updater.

It integrates with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, supports most streaming media protocols and file-sharing service websites, and includes other features such as general and tagged download management.

To disable the “Software Updater” function in Orbit Downloader, and prevent it from running each time the program is started:

Exit Orbit Downloader by right-clicking on its tray icon, and clicking exit.

Locate the file SoftUpdater.dll. This is installed in the same folder with all the other Orbit Downloader files.

Right-click on the file name, and rename it to SoftUpdater_dll. You could use any other allowable character which removes the “.”, and makes the file no longer recognized as a .DLL.

Restart Orbit Downloader by double-clicking on orbitdm.exe.

If you ever want to run the Software Updater, you can reverse this process by renaming the file as a DLL before starting Orbit.

You could also stop the Software Updater from running by deleting the file, or moving it to another folder.

So its up to you to decide, possible you can have 2 browsers and install different download helpers.
