Which online portfolio option do you think is better?

This is a general question. When it comes to online portfolios and biographies (for writers), which do you think is better of the two: creating one as a website layout or creating one as a blog?

If you're willing to pay a monthly fee there are services like Writer's Residence http://writersresidence.com/ which make it easy for you - but really everything they offer could be easily achieved with wordpress. You could just use it as a guide on how to put it together.

Saiket, I've done the same thing as Josh and Ryan. I stared using both, with a WordPress theme. I believe you can it so that the first landing page is your business page rather than your blog page. I think it's a little counterproductive to have the website and the blog in two different places.

I agree with Josh - A blog is excellent because you can create a static bio page (basically an "about me") page where you can send prospective clients or employers, and you also have the option to blog on your own profile site - so they can also see your writing style and what sort of stuff you're up to in general.

However, if hosting space is an issue and you just want a quick site that you don't have to mess around with, gpEasy is now my favorite.

    Good luck Saikat!

Why not both? Many blogging platforms let you create pages as well instead of just posts. From ones I've tested and tried out, many will let you choose the landing page, so if you don't want the blog to be where people land when visiting your site, you can change it to a home page of some sort.
