Here are backlinks you can obtain within minutes with little effort.
Add your site to Aboutus, SEOMOZ, Statscrop, Woorank, Websiteseoreport, Markosweb, Youtube, Yahoo Answers, Facebook, Twitter and search for free web directories. These are mostly no-follow links but will definitely help you build high quality backlinks.

Contributing on other blogs are a great way to build backlink traffic. Like writing for Technorati, Hubpages, or Squiddoo.

I'm not an SEO expert, so forgive me if I'm being gauche, but:

The best way to get free backlinks is to create high-quality content that people want to link to. The kind of stuff that people want to Like on Facebook, Tweet to their friends, and link to from their own blogs.

A link from an authoritative website, or even a decent one, is worth a lot more than a link on a spammy blog.

Spot on. Moreover, if you use a lot of these backlink building tips or services without having good content people actually want to link to, you stand a very good chance of being deranked and delisted.
