Why do mp3 files I copy from my external hard drive to iTunes no longer appear on the hard drive?

Erica Galea asks:

When I transfer my music from external hard disk to iTunes, files no longer appear in hard disk. I have tried dragging files and even copy and paste. Is the problem with the external HD or iTunes?

Strange that the files disappear from your External Drive if you are not cutting them. I suggest that you make a folder on your main drive call it music then copy some music files from your external drive and paste them into the music folder you just created, see then if they have been deleted from the external one, you can then just drag the files from the music folder into iTunes or the Automatically Add to iTunes folder, found in My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/ Automatically Add to iTunes. Hope this helps.
