How can I monitor bandwidth usage on a per-program basis?

Osama Javaid asks:

Is there any free software available to monitor how Internet applications are using bandwidth ? If I am running an IM, an origin client, a browser, I want to monitor how much each of these is using out of my total.

Browser: Firefox 13.0.1
System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Service Pack 1

Since you are running Windows 7 you can use the Resource Monitor
1. click Start
2. input “resource monitor” into the search bar
3. click on the appropriate result

In the network tab you can monitor each processes usage in Bytes per second down, up and total along with a lot of other information.

In windows 7, go to start, Type “Resource Monitor”. Then click the NETWORK tab. You’ll get every process using your bandwidth and with real time usage.

Otherwise, you can install “Kingsoft PC Doctor”. This is free and it has many things to offer. It can manage everything in one package. It shows you the traffic monitoring, acts as task manager, acts as program uninstaller, PC booster, registry fixer, cleaning junk files and RAM to increase the speed if PC. You can manage start up programs, and many more. This should work in all windows version.
